LOVE LABELS

WHY DO WE LABEL OUR QUILTS?

Some quilts we make for fun, for little kids to drag around; and then there are those that we hope will be passed to future generations who will treasure the work of our hands, and know that our love went into every stitch.

We need to give each of our quilts our own unique “signature”.  The very least we should include is our name, where we live, and the year it was made.  If we include the name of the person to whom it was presented, and name the occasion, our “signature” then takes on a history of events in the lives of the people we know and love.

Love Labels is a service to quilters that’s unique.  I  have been labeling my quilts with machine embroidery for several years.  I like to include a sentiment on my label, such as “When this you see,  remember me”.

There are many borders that can be used, or if you want to keep it simple, the embroidery alone is lovely as well.
